What is Royston Book Fair?
Royston Book Fair (part of the annual Royston Arts Festival) is a celebration of local, talented authors who have achieved the remarkable feat of getting a book out into the world. It's an opportunity for writers to showcase their books, to meet fellow authors and - importantly - find new readers!
This year's event will be held in Royston Parish Church on September 26th, 2026, from 12pm-4pm.
Who can apply to take part?
Anyone who has published a book can apply for a table at the fair. Traditionally or independently published, even if you've only got one book; we want to celebrate writers in an inclusive and friendly environment, so all are welcome!
Is there a charge to take part?
There is no charge to participate in Royston Book Fair, for either readers or writers.
What equipment will I need?
By booking a place at the fair, you'll get a table and a chair. Bring your books, posters, flyers, banners, bookmarks... whatever you like to tell the world about your writing. We are happy for you to sell copies of your books but we're equally happy if you just want to come along and promote eBooks... or simply meet readers and talk to fellow writers.
Can I give a reading, or a talk?
In past years we have run a programme of readings. Following feedback from participants last year when we moved to our new home at the church, it was generally felt that it isn't the right space for these (limited space, too much background noise) so this year we won't be running readings or talks.
How do I apply?
Fill in the application form (link below).
As part of the application we'll ask for some details that will help us decide who to offer tables to and make sure we've got a good mix of books for readers to discover. The process is not "first come, first served" and will be based on the criteria below. Please note, this is an art, not a science. If we're oversubscribed we'll operate a waitlist in case anyone has to withdraw in the run up to the fair.
Postcode: Priority will be given to authors closer to Royston
Genre/Target Audience: We'd like to get a good mix so that we can appeal to the widest possible number of readers
Number of books: If you have a smaller number of books, we may offer you a half table in order to maximise the number of authors we can accommodate.
